CPFT staff ‘humbled and delighted’ by donations from public
14 April 2020

People, groups and organisations have been thanked for making donations to frontline staff working for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.

The Trust employs more than 4,000 staff who provide community physical healthcare for older people and those with long-term conditions, mental healthcare for children and adults, children’s health services in Peterborough, learning disability support and social care support.

And colleagues have been left “humbled and delighted” to the response they have received from people since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Hannah Wysocki, Manager of CPFT’s charity Head To Toe, said: “Colleagues across the Trust from continue to put in a tremendous amount of work as part of the response to Covid-19.

“They are incredibly dedicated anyway, but they’ve had to double their efforts over the last few weeks to ensure they continue to provide outstanding care and keep patients safe.

“It is our community nurses across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, for example, who have continued to visit people in their own homes and provide them with treatment. Those patients are the ones most at risk if they contract coronavirus, but our colleagues have put aside any personal concerns to ensure they continue to get the care they need.”

“The response our staff have had has left them humbled and delighted. We’ve had all kinds of donations, and the public have really let them know they are thinking about them during this unprecedented time.”

Donations made to Head To Toe which go directly to frontline teams have included:

Fruit and other food donations have been given to teams across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

Laundry bags for staff to put their scrubs into to aid infection control

Hand cream and fresh flowers

On Easter Sunday, Morrisons supermarket in Peterborough donated over 100 Easter eggs and chocolates, for the teams and patients at the Cavell Centre, Peterborough.

In Cambridge, volunteers from the Sewa Day Charity also donated over 200 Easter eggs which were distributed to teams and patients mental health wards for young people, adults and older people at the Trust’s Fulbourn Hospital site.

Head To Toe has also funded activities and resources for patients on wards across the Trust, including games, newspapers and sensory equipment.
