The Advice and Referral Centre run by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust has taken its 10,000th referral.

The ARC helps GPs signpost patients into mental health services.

It has been open for just a year and it was administrator Natalie Larham (pictured above) who took the landmark referral.

The ARC is a contact centre operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provides a single point of access for people aged over 17 into CPFT services for GPs and other professional referrers.

Angela Loynes, ARC Manager, said: “We have a fantastic team of dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly over the last year to make the referral process simpler for people needing to access local mental health services. We have received lots of positive feedback over the last year and this is all down to the team.”

The dedicated team of experienced professional mental health staff both clinical and administrative handle referrals from Peterborough, Fenland and Huntingdon for people requiring further support with their mental health. They also receive and respond to requests for mental health advice from GPs and other referrers.

There are plans in place for the ARC to roll out across Cambridge before the end of 2013.
