CPFT staff member Louisa Bullivant has praised colleagues who will be raising money for a charity set up following her father’s severe stroke.

Louisa has thanked James Edmonds and Emma Trigg, who both work on the Oak 2 ward at the Cavell Centre, Peterborough, as they prepare to tackle the Milton Keynes marathon on Bank Holiday Monday (4 May).

As well as raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Cancer Research, they will also running in aid of Graham’s Recovery Onwards and Upwards.

Graham’s Recovery was set up by Louisa and fellow family members after Graham suffered a severe stroke in November last year.

Following his stroke, 55-year-old Graham was diagnosed with locked-in syndrome. The condition leaves patients paralysed and mute but remaining conscious.

Louisa, a senior administrator at the Cavell Centre, (pictured above with her father) said: “My family have been completely overwhelmed by the massive amount of support we have received, and I’d like to thank everyone who has done so much to help us, from Emma and James who are running the marathon on Sunday, to the followers on the Graham’s Recovery Facebook page.

“Little is known about my father’s condition but we hope that by setting up this charity we can support other in a similar situation and raise further awareness.

“This has changed everyone’s lives, but we are positive about the future and the charity’s name has been chosen because we hope to encourage others to move Onwards and Upwards.”

Louisa and her family have since held a series of fundraising events for Graham and a family fun day will be held at the Carpenter’s Arms in Stanground, Peterborough, on Saturday, 16 May.
