New CPFT Professor

New CPFT Professor
13 September 2012

Professor John O'Brien has joined the Trust from Newcastle University as Professor of Old Age Psychiatry in the University of Cambridge and honorary consultant psychiatrist with CPFT.

John has an international reputation in research into dementias and other neurodegenerative disorders and will fill an important gap as a leading clinical academic psychiatrist in this area that is so strong in Cambridge, from molecular biology, through cognitive neuroscience to epidemiology and the development of new therapeutics. John will work closely with colleagues in the CLAHRC and in the sister NIHR entities of the Biomedical Research Centre and the Biomedical Research Unit for Dementia, as well as with DeNDRoN.

He will also bring his leadership experience and is likely to play a key role in the rejuvenation of the memory service as a joint venture between mental health and neurology.
