Executive team strengthened with appointments of Lorna Payne and Philip Cave

New directors to join CPFT

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) has strengthened its board of directors with the appointment of two new senior executives.

Lorna Payne is joining CPFT as Director of Service Integration, while Philip Cave is to become Finance Director.

Lorna (right) is joining CPFT from the London Borough of Havering where she was Group Director Adults & Health. She led adult social care, as well as jointly leading an integrated care strategy with colleagues across three boroughs.

Lorna has extensive knowledge and experience of health and social care in both Australia and the UK.
After holding several senior posts in Australia, including working for the Department of Health, Lorna joined Norfolk County Council as Assistant Director (Community Care) in 2006. She became Corporate Director for Community Wellbeing at Thurrock Council in 2007 before joining Havering in 2011. Lorna’s role will be jointly-funded by CPFT, Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council.

Philip Cave is joining CPFT from Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust where he has been Deputy Director of Finance since 2011.

A biology graduate from the University of Sheffield, Philip joined the NHS finance training scheme in 2000. Initially working in Birmingham, he moved to London in 2003 where is has worked in a PCT, and various acute and community trusts.

In 2007, Philip (right) was appointed as Assistant Director of Finance at University Hospital Lewisham NHS Trust before joining South London Healthcare NHS Trust as Associate Director of Finance in 2009. In 2011, he re-joined Lewisham. Philip is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and takes over from interim Finance Director, Darren Cattell.

Dr Attila Vegh, Chief Executive of CPFT, said: “I am delighted to welcome Lorna and Philip to the board of directors. Between them they have an incredible amount of experience which will strengthen our executive team even further.
“Most importantly of all, they both have proven track records for providing the very best services for patients and their families.”

Also joining CPFT is new interim Trust Secretary Helen Redman. Helen studied law at the University of
Leicester, before qualifying as a solicitor at city law firm Dentons. She has worked as a lawyer in both the private and public sectors and most recently was the Company Secretary at a Cambridgeshire-based self-regulatory body.

Helen is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, and a mentor for Inspire, Motivate and Engage, an organisation which helps unemployed young people. Helen is replacing Fraser Rogers who is joining Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Also departing CPFT is Tom Abell, Director of Service Improvement, who has been appointed Chief Officer at NHS Basildon and Brentwood CCG.

Dr Vegh added: “I would like to welcome Helen to our team and offer my sincere thanks to Darren, Tom and Fraser for their outstanding work at CPFT. They were instrumental during our successful turnaround and I wish them well in their next roles.”
